Prof. Dr. Ernawati Sinaga is a Full Professor in School of Biology Universitas Nasional, Jakarta, Indonesia, and now serves as Vice Rector for Research, Community Services and Collaboration, and as Director of Center for Medicinal Plants Research in Universitas Nasional. In addition to her experience as a researcher and an educator, she also serves as Secretary General for Indonesian Women for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. This organization focus on training young people, especially young women and girls in water conservation and health-related life style.

Dr. Sinaga received her PhD from Department of Chemistry University of Indonesia with research emphasis on molecular biology of drug delivery conducted as joint research with Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, USA. She received her Master degree in Biomedical Sciences and her Bachelor degree from School of Pharmacy from University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia.

As a pharmacist, her research interest lies in a broad area of traditional medicines, ethnopharmacology, and pharmacology of natural products, especially focus on investigating and evaluating medicinal potency of biological natural resources
